A TRIPTYCH COLLAGE

We shall be celebrating the entire month of January with the theme -Astronomy...so the whole school is working together on it...yes..the kindergartners as well as the main school students.
Here's an activity that my grade 1&2 students did, related to the theme. They made a "TRIPTYCH".And this is what it looks like.

A Triptych collage is a piece of art or writing on three hinged tablets. Triptychs were used in ancient Rome.
What you need:
Mat board / box board
Torn paper
Glue & water
Stamps
Nails
String
Beads
Paint brush

What to do?
1. Cut the shapes for the triptych from box board
2. Tear paper and glue paper in an overlapping fashion with glue(diluted with water – 1 part each)
3. Use stamps collage items, cut papers patterns according your monthly theme idea to further decorate, like the sample here shows ‘solar system’ our theme for the month.
4. Lay the triptych pieces with the inside panels facing up. This is where you can write the words.
5. Finally with a nail, poke holes near the top and bottom of the panels, where they connect to each other.
6. Thread pieces of string through the matching holes in the panels to connect the panels together.
Tie the pieces of strings together and bead it together.
